How to check for and disable proxy servers

Some players choose to use proxy servers to provide security and privacy, however; using a proxy server may result in unwanted connection and installation errors when trying to launch or update Dead by Daylight.

Additionally, Proxy servers can be activated without a user's knowledge via malware - so they may be impacting your ability to play Dead by Daylight without you knowing it. To check for proxies:

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. In the "Run" window that pops up in the bottom left of your screen type inetcpl.cpl and then click "OK".
  3. Click on "Connections".
  4. Click "LAN settings".
  5. If it is checked, uncheck the box next to "Use a proxy server for your LAN" and click "OK".

If you were connected to a proxy server with no recollection of setting it up yourself, we suggest running a virus scan. As previously mentioned it is possible for proxy servers to be set up on a computer without your knowledge via malware.
