What actions will result in a temporary ban?

Types and examples of temporary bans
HARASSMENT: COMMUNICATIONS ABUSE
- Insults, intimidation, hateful speech, repeated harassment

GRIEFING: INTENTIONAL GAMEPLAY ABUSE
- Working with the opposite team to gain an advantage or grief teammates
- Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience
- Holding the game hostage

EXPLOITS: ABUSING BUGS OR ERRORS IN DESIGN TO GAIN A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
- Advertising exploits
- Exploiting bugs, errors in design, or undocumented features to gain access to what otherwise would not be available or to obtain a competitive advantage

UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT
- Botting
- Lag switching
- Disconnects (leaving the match before killed or sacrificed) - DO NOT REPORT

What happens if I have been temporarily banned?
If your account has been issued a temporary ban, you will receive an in-game notification detailing the offense and how long this ban will last. Please note these bans can not be appealed.
In these cases, we strongly recommend players re-read Dead by Daylight's EULA and game rules in order to prevent any further action from being taken against your account.
How long do temporary bans last?
Ban length escalation
Based on the severity of your offense, as well as how many previous bans you've received, your temporary ban should align to the timeframes listed below.
48 Hours-> 1 Week -> 1 Month -> PERMANENT
This is a sliding scale and is determined on a case-by-case basis. If an offense is considered to be particularly egregious, the duration of the ban may skip one or more steps in this process.
Note: Any previous permanent bans on your record, including those from previous accounts, will result in all future offenses being permanent bans.

Types and examples of permanent bans
HACKING IN-GAME EXCLUSIVES AND / OR LEGACY COSMETICS
- The acquiring of any in-game cosmetic through any means other than Official Dead by Daylight channels (ie. codes, giveaways, etc.)
- The possession of legacy cosmetics without earning them. The cutoff to earn legacy cosmetics happened on November 24, 2016. If a player has obtained legacy cosmetics after this date, then it is considered cheating.

CHEATED PROGRESS / MODIFYING YOUR SAVE FILE
- Using any 3rd party software or other methods to cheat your save file or any measure of progress contained within your save file. This includes using someone else’s save file.

THREATS
- Excessive or serious threats against someone, including DOX threats, life threats, disclosing private information, etc.
Reminder: everything that happens outside of the game should be reported to the appropriate platform. (ie: Twitch, Discord, Steam, Sony, Microsoft)

OTHER HACKS
- Using 3rd party software or other tools to gain any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game.
- We do not ban for the use of communication apps.

What happens if I have been permanently banned?
If your account has been issued a permanent ban, you will receive an in-game notification detailing the offense.
If you believe that your account was banned incorrectly, we recommend you reach out to our Support Team here. When submitting your ticket, make sure to choose "ban appeal" from the list of queries and provide us with the required details.

Consequences of ban evasion
Players who have committed multiple violations resulting in permanent bans could also see access revoked on their other accounts should offenses continue after the first permanent ban. The structure and severity of these bans are followed throughout any platform.
